The Story:

Janice, Kara and Bo have just sat down on the Park Bench in Central Park looking at the Group of Bears, located on the east side at 79th (for realz). They are contemplating and discussing the incredible situation the three of them find themselves. One is introspective, one is inquisitive, and the other with a carelessness that can only be associated with youth.

“…..As I was saying,” Bo continues and Kara fake pouts, than giggles.  “The whole weekend has been memorable.  The three of us like those Bears[1] over there, just work.”

The girls turn to look at the bears.  Janice leans puts leans her head to Bo’s shoulder while Kara take the last bite of the hotdog.

“The bear on the right is you Kara, constantly in motion with boundless energy.  You Janice is the Bear on the left, sitting, watching with an intelligence ready to act any time.”

“And you’re the Bear in the middle?”   if it had balls touching the floor.”  Kara laughs and Janice snorts.

“Yes, I am the bear in the middle, standing, looking ahead.” Bo says ignoring Kara’s comment.

“Looking for what?”  Janice asks Bo.

“I don’t know…….

Real Life:

Group of Bears

Sculpture by Paul Manship

The group shows the phases of a relationship as we progress through life.   Late teen / twenties there is no focus because we believe the lie that time has no meaning (Kara).

However,  that focus often comes painfully apparent with maturity.  As we age, we have had life experiences, that causes us to set goals, and forge a path ahead want to build and create something (Bo).  For others they been burned once deeply, of often casually, that hard shell natural develops (Janice) and they tentatively ask questions want to fall once again with the reckless abandonment of youth.. but… something holds them back.

One is introspective, one is inquisitive, and the other with a carelessness that can only be associated with youth.

This is a bit of watershed moment for the trio, Where will this go?  Is this really a relationship?  It could be, but it is against so many cultural norms.  Do those norms matter? Is this real?  or is this just Lust?
